The new dental building may be completed even earlier than planned

Compared to the schedule, the construction of the new theoretical dental building is progressing well, said dr. Ákos Nagy, associate professor, head of the Clinical Center Department of Dentistry, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery based on the report of project manager Zsolt Bogyai, and on the experience of the recent large-scale on-site visit.

(Our last writing about this topic was published on 16 February.)

The on-site visit on 17 March was organised by the senior managers of the construction company to inform the leadership of the university and the School. The Clinical Center was represented by Dr. Tamás Decsi, medical director, the Medical School was represented by Dr. Miklós Nyitrai, dean, on behalf of the University of Pécs, István Decsi, chancellor and Dr. Attila Miseta, rector participated in the visit.

During the visit, they were able to make sure that the top level for management and administration had already been prepared for the flooring installation, the tiles and the wall covering had been laid, and the installation of the medical technology equipment is being prepared.

During the presentation of the professional concept of the building, Dr. Ákos Nagy said that the public procurement process of the in-building central sterilisation equipment system serving the daily work equipment demand can be started.

Additional funding sources have also been involved, which enable the purchase of dental treatment units, instruments, and hand tools beyond the currently available tools. As previously reported, the original HUF 1,950 million support can only be used for the construction of the building.

“We have been systematically preparing to move into our new building for some time. We try to keep the equipment of the Dischka Győző street clinic up-to-date and also renew it so that we can transfer a large part of it to the new building. We receive continuous support from the Clinical Center and the Medical School. We also have the opportunity to purchase 30 additional dental treatment units according to the capacity of the new building (we are planning with a total of 61 treatment units). Currently we have 45 chairs, some of which need to be given to the inpatient department in addition to the X-ray equipment that provide the diagnostic background because there will be no inpatient care in the new dental building. The tender for the purchase of furniture for our building is also in an advanced state. We make every effort to procure accessories not closely associated with the building itself - furniture, professional tools, materials - in parallel with the construction of the building. It is still our aim to begin the 2022/2023 academic year in the new building” - said Dr. Ákos Nagy.
